  • 4 pounds russet potatoes (peeled and sliced)
  • 2 cups grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 (10.75-ounce) can condensed cheddar soup
  • 1 (12-ounce) can evaporated milk
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 yellow onion (diced)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef with diced onion until cooked through. Drain excess fat.
  3. In the prepared baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, season with salt and pepper, followed by a quarter of the beef mixture and cheese. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the condensed cheddar soup, evaporated milk, regular milk, and garlic powder until smooth. Pour over the layered casserole.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 60 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
